Where the MEB 590 module is used

The format was designed for battery-electric vehicles and the catalogue lists the module accordingly: application BEV. In practice the modules turn up wherever a large, certified, off-the-shelf module is worth more than a bespoke one — electric cars and SUVs, vans and trucks, buses and coaches.

How the modules add up

Each 2P8S module is 29.36 V nominal and 6.66 kWh. Modules in series set the pack voltage and modules in parallel set the capacity, so a pack is built by choosing how many of each. Ten in series is a little under 300 V nominal and about 67 kWh; the exact number follows from the voltage window your inverter or drive needs, not from the module.

  • Passenger cars and SUVs — the platform the format comes from.
  • Vans, trucks and buses — where the floor-mounted pack layout carries over directly.
  • Marine and off-highway — the same argument as buses: a certified module beats a bespoke one at low volume.
  • Stationary storage — possible, but assess it against IEC 62619 and size the cooling for a duty cycle that never stops.

What to settle before you order

Three things decide whether a module fits your project, and none of them are on this page: the voltage window at the pack terminals, the way you intend to cool 31.4 kg of cells under your own duty cycle, and the certification your end market asks for. Bring those three and a supplier can answer in one round.
